Spotlight Semester 1 2021

Tuesday, 02 March 2021

Welcome to another new and exciting year of learning at WeCAN EIP. We congratulate our 30 students and families who have graduated from ARC(S)’s WeCAN Early Intervention Programme and moved on to other post-EIP placements to continue their learning journeys.

The new 2021 school year begins in very extraordinary times. Whilst safe management measures continue to be in place, we are now able to increase our class sizes and resume many of our activities. We look forward to another year of working closely with all our families for better outcomes for all our children.

What’s new this year:

  1. Early Childhood Holistic Outcomes (ECHO) pilot programme.
This year, WeCAN EIP begins a pilot benchmarking system rolled out by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). This system focuses on developing and measuring holistic outcomes for our students and their families. A number of students and teachers have been selected to be part of this pilot programme. Teachers will engage with you, update you, and walk closely with you in this process. Aside from more structured assessments of the students and engagement sessions with families, the intervention programme remains largely unchanged. We continue to focus on our children’s autism needs and work towards skill acquisition and independence. The assessment phase will be slightly longer, leading to the development of an Individualised Educational Plan (IEP) that is for a one-year period. Do be assured that regular reviews will be done and the IEPs updated whenever needed.
  2. ARC(S) Hongbao Donation Drive 2021
We thank all families who have generously shared some of their hong bao blessings with ARC(S). With these funds, ARC can continue to offer existing programmes and look into addressing new areas of need in the lifespan of autistic individuals and their families.
  3. ARC Caregiver Forum. Save the Date!
Save the date for an upcoming ARC Virtual Caregiver Forum on Saturday 27 March 2021. More details will be sent to you in due time.

As we enter the new school year, I wish every family an enriching journey with us. Do note that our communication channels continue to remain open. Should families face any challenges, please do not hesitate to contact our teachers and administrative staff for help.
